Marit Shalem (1971) has studied visual arts at the HdK, Berlin (UdK). She lives and works since 2000 in Rotterdam. Shalem makes large and medium sized detailed drawings and produces experimental video films. She works also under the name SpOp. Emerging from her artistic research Points for Production, her art projects deal with the relation between artistic and commercial production and power relations under influence of the market. Shalem also curates experimental film evenings, titled Layers, in WORM, Rotterdam.
